What is the difference between a body oil and moisturiser?Updated 3 days ago

A dry body oil mainly provides emollience: it softens skin, adds glow, and helps reduce water loss by forming a lightweight barrier. A moisturiser, on the other hand, is typically an emulsion of water and oils, so it delivers both hydration (water to the skin) and occlusion (to lock that water in).

In short: moisturisers give skin water + oil, while dry oils mainly give oil-based nourishment and protection.
